Billie Jean Walters' Obituary
Billie Jean Walters, age 87, beloved aunt, sister, and friend, passed away April 26, 2025.
Billie Jean was born to Walter McMillian and Libbie Wood McMillian in Rockmart, GA. She spent her formative years in Rockmart, and on the day of her high school graduation, moved to Atlanta with her girlfriends to start her career.
Billie Jean was a lady with an eye for detail. She was proud of her career as a hairdresser and loved beautifying her friends. Her taste and aesthetic laced through not only her talents as a hairdresser, but also as an interior decorator. Billie’s home was always immaculately decorated with antiques collected from many weekends of antiquing trips with her husband, Bobby. Even in her final days, Billie’s eye for design was apparent.
Billie was a long-time member of Concord Baptist Church and King Springs Baptist Church. She loved serving her Lord in any capacity, which usually meant lending her talents decorating and helping coordinate special events.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, Bobby Gene Walters; and all of her siblings, James McMillian, Larry McMillian, Robert McMillian, and Deborah Cox.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her children, and many friends.
A memorial service honoring Billie’s life will be held Wednesday, April 30, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Mike Metzger officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM before the service.
Flowers are kindly accepted, however, in lieu of flowers, donations in Billie’s honor may be made to the Gideon’s International at https://www.gideons.org/
