Bill Howard's Obituary
The much beloved William Henry (Bill) Howard passed away at age 80 on Sunday July 8, 2012, at his home in Austell in the presence of his devoted wife of 57 years, Ruth Powell Howard. William Howard was a graduate of Albertville High, AL, graduated cum laude from Birmingham Southern University in 1954, and received a Masters in Chemistry from Northwestern University in 1956. He worked as Senior Environmental Chemist at SRS when he retired. He was a prize-winning amateur photographer and loved to photograph family, scenery, animal and flower pictures. He instilled a love of all nature in his children and grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Col. Willis Timmons Howard, Ret. and Emma Darby Howard, and his brother Capt. Hadley Howard, Ret. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; their four children and spouses: Dr. Michael L. Howard (Marie) of Marietta; Peter J. Howard, Esq. (Seleta) of Seaside, FL; Carol Chen (Ben) of Woodstock; and Dr. Mary Ann Johnson (James) of Parker, CO; 12 wonderful grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and brother, Col. John D. Howard, Ret. (Ann) of Merritt Island, FL. A memorial service honoring Mr. Howard’s life will be held Saturday, July 14 at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home in Austell at 4:00 pm with family and friends welcome the hour before. www.davisstruempf.com
