I REMEMBER
Mom, everyone knows you were the best
You stood the time, you stood the test.
I remember when but a child,
How you would twiddle my hair and
look on me with that beautiful smile.
And that look on your pretty face,
Then you'd take me in your arms
and OH!, What a sweet embrace!
I remember, when just a little girl,
How you would starch and iron
my homade dresses,
And in paper curlers,
my hair you would curl.
And make me look prissy
You'd fix me, Oh so pretty,
And off to church we'd go.
And I loved sitting by you and Dad
on that old pew,
And my other brothers and sisters looked
just as lovely as you.
I remember, oh, maybe the age of nine,
How you'd put my clothes in
that old black washpot,
And build a fire around so you could
clean those dirty frocks of mine.
I know we had to bring in water
and logs a few,
But that is what I always liked to do.
Oh! I was young, and it didn't seem
like much fun way back then,
But today it is nice & sweet memories.
Because now I realize I was doing it
to help my best friend...... (YOU!)
Mom, I remember when you scrubbed
my clothes on that old washboard,
How your hands would cramp, Oh so bad!
I remember how I'd go off by myself,
and I would be so, so sad.
I'd cry for a time,
then I'd come back to where you were,
And you would say you were fine.
Mom, I remember when in the
cold, cold wintertime,
You'd hang clothes on the clothesline.
But the clothes would freeze,
stiff as a board in no time at all.
You were just as frozen,
But you stood so very tall.
I remember handing them to you,
for you on the line to hang,
But then I saw on your hands,
that same old pain.
It would draw your hands,
and disfigure them,
But you never complained,
not one diadem.
You always tended me so gracefully,
I know you were the sweetest Mother
that ever could be.
THANKS FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE
FOR ME!
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MOM!!!
