Betty June Wallace's Obituary
Betty June Wallace, age 88, of Marietta passed away surrounded by her family on November 28, 2022. Betty was born to Croff and Della Mae Sanders in Austell, but was raised in Powder Springs. She graduated as Valedictorian from Powder Springs High School, and loved playing basketball while she was there. After high school, she married the love of her life, Olen H. Wallace, and the two raised two daughters. In her working years, Betty was a bookkeeper and worked at Blair Manufacturing and Ed Marger Law Office for many years.
Betty and Olen were long-time members of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Betty served in the church in many capacities, from Sunday School teaching, to choir singing, to serving as Church Treasurer. She loved to travel with Olen, including going on mission trips with Good Samaritan Baptist Missions to Honduras and Nicaragua. For 20 years, Betty and Olen supported a number of children in the Opportunity of a Lifetime Program. They also supported a number of other programs, including Feed the Hungry, The Bible Institute, The Radio Ministry, and several national pastors.
Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who love her.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Olen H. Wallace; and siblings, Lanier Sanders and Gloria Sanders James. She is survived by her children, Renee Christy of Marietta and Tracey Karanovich of Powder Springs; siblings, Mary Elizabeth Palmer and Douglas Gober Sanders; grandchildren, John, Jamie, and Erin; great-grandchildren, Elias, Ethan, Rylee, Mason, Addison, Chandler, Camden, and Erick; and great-great grandchild, Emily Grace.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 1, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Pastor Bobby Wood officiating. Interment will follow the service at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
