Betty Louise Henson's Obituary
Betty Louise Henson, age 92, of Dallas and formerly of Mableton passed away October 15, 2023. Betty was born to James Theodore Bennett and Floys Leila Bennett (née Johnson) in Atlanta. She lived in West End until she was 9 years old, then the family moved to Austell. While in grammar school, Betty met her sweetheart and the love of her life, Henry Doyle Wallace. The two went through school together, both graduating from Austell High School in 1948.
Doyle and Betty ran the family business together for many years, Wallace Electric. They were a pillar of the Mableton community, having built many homes in the area, and Wallace Park in Mableton bears their name.
In earlier years, Betty was a member of a bowling team and bowled frequently at Bankhead Lanes. She was an exquisite cook, specializing in Southern food, and a wonderful seamstress. She could make anything! Betty was passionate about traveling, especially to Biloxi, and enjoyed spending time gardening and decorating her home. Her home was even featured in South Cobb Tour of Homes. But above all else, she treasured time with her family and loved them all dearly.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Doyle Wallace; second husband, James Robert Henson; and brother, James T. Bennett, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Len Wallace (wife, Mary Ann) of Powder Springs and Lori Wallace Stonecypher of Dallas; grandchildren, Shady (husband, Craig), Brittany (husband, Trevor), Angie (husband, Chad), Chas (wife, Mikki), Cami (husband, Glenn), Jason, Case (wife, Emily), and Callie (husband, Chris); 18 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 19th, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Pastor Heather Webb and James Jake Wilson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Betty’s name be made to Wellstar Tranquility Hospice at https://www.wellstar.org/community/foundation/ways-to-give/give-to-hospice
