If I could use one word to describe her it would be hero. I was one of her many students that walked the halls of Garrett Middle School. I was new to the district, the state, and new to epilepsy. When I was asked to leave school because of the amount of seizures I was having, she was my hero- she came to my home and kept me motivated and encouraged as she made sure I kept up with my peers. She didn't have to help me at all. Infact, she could have left me to fend for myself, but she didn't she made a choice to be there when many at the school gave up. That was almost 40 years ago and I will never forget. I was blessed to know her and her family.
