Benjamin "Ben" Jordan's Obituary
Benjamin “Ben” David Jordan, age 86 of Mableton entered into rest on August 7, 2014. Ben was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Myers Jordan, his parents, Lloyd and Icie Ruth Jordan, sister, Mabel Norris Hammock, brothers, J.C., Carlton and Jim. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Morris and her husband, Wade of Atlanta, son, David of St. Simons Island, sisters, Rachel Jordan and
Betty Luckett of Cumming, Verlie Young of Lee's Summit, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hillman,Shirley Nabors(Richard), Clarie Whitfield, Ann Cofer (Bobby) and Jimmie Johnson (Earl); Numerous cousins, Nieces and nephews. Ben was born March 18, 1928, in Columbia County, Georgia. He graduated from Leah High School in 1945 and was drafted into the Army in 1946. After working for a few years at Camp Gordon(now Ft.Gordon), he came to Atlanta in 1954 and began his career in construction. He moved to Mableton in 1955 and built homes until he retired. He and his wife Betty were members of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church for over 50 years, were avid Georgia football fans, they seldom missed a game and followed (along with Betty's sister Jimmie and her husband Earl) the Dogs wherever they went. They also traveled together in their RV throughout the United States. He will be greatly missed by h is family and friends.
Graveside Services will be held Friday 11:00 AM at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens with Dr. Randal Whitten officiating. The family will receive friends Friday 10:00 -11:00 AM at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse Health System, 5775 Glenridge Drive, Suite 200 Atlanta, GA 30328, 404-215-6000. Arrangements are with Davis-Struempf Funeral Home, Austell.
