Barbara June Levy's Obituary
Barbara June Levy, age 86 of Marietta passed away December 16, 2024.
Barbara was born and raised in New York from 1938-2014 until she (reluctantly) moved to Georgia. Barbara was a hard worker. She worked in Sales and Distribution for Harper & Row Publishing Company for about 10 years, Borden’s Dairy Company for over 10 years, and Polarome International Chemical Manufacturing Company for over 10 years.
Barbara had a deep and abiding love for God, which was the cornerstone of her life. She was an avid fan of QVC, always excited to find the latest trends in clothes, technology, and newest appliances. Her passion for shopping was unmatched only by her love for food and cooking.
She had a flair for fashion and a keen eye for the latest gadgets, making her a trendsetter in her own right. Barbara enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as watching old movies, dancing, and solving crossword puzzles. She was also a big fan of Steve Harvey. Bingo nights, dining out, and cruising in her Honda CRV were some of her favorite pastimes.
Barbara had a ton of kind, loving, caring friends at the Adrian that cared for her as their own family. They took Barbara on many adventures, such as parties, fish fries, sunning and funning, and cookouts. They also did her hair, took her to her appointments, took her to brunch and dinner, and took her on her beloved shopping trips. Her friends made her last few years memorable, and they kept her young and laughing. These caring and committed friends include Memi, Kim, 2 Barbara’s & Pam, Regina, Shirley, Marilyn, Denise, Sonya, Gregory, Kenny, Ronnie, Wendi, the Dots, and Charlesie. We thank you for being her village.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and William Levy; sister, Delores Ann Levy; brother, William Levy; son, Brian Conrad Henderson; nieces, Terri Morris and Danielle “Danny” Levy; lifelong friends, Dorothy Timber.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Darnell Levy (Lois Schroeder); grandchildren, B.J., Alex, Kyle, Joshua, and Taylor; great-granddaughter, Sayori Henderson; in-laws, Yolanda Lisa Nelson Henderson (Brian’s wife) and Chester Morris (Terri’s husband) nephews, Darnell Levy, Dion Levy, and Bill Levy (Teresa) and their children, Rachel and Erica Levy; nieces, Theresa Davis and Saundra D. Nixon (William) (her caregiver for over 10 years); many great nieces; cousin, Geraldine Fowler.
A memorial service honoring Barbara’s life will be held on Sunday, December 22nd 11:00 AM with Dr. Shuntray Shedrick officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 10-11 AM.
After the service at Davis-Struempf, we will continue celebrating her life with fellowship and refreshments at The Adrian, 1965 Austell Road SW, Marietta, GA 30008
In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for someone in need. Love is giving, and God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son.
