Attila "Butch" Edward Szilagyi's Obituary
Attila Edward Szilagyi, affectionately known as “Butch”, age 65, of Smyrna passed on to his Heavenly home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on March 18, 2024.
Butch was born in Austria to Imre and Eva Marie Szilagyi, and the family immigrated to the United States when he was 6 months old. Butch spent his childhood and young adulthood in Cleveland, Ohio.
Butch dedicated his life to working with his hands. He was a skilled carpenter and hard-worker who, for many years, ran his own construction company, Accurate Construction.
He would have rather been at the beach than anywhere else. Butch adored the ocean and Naples, FL was his second home. When he was not soaking up some rays, he was spending time with close friends or cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes. Butch was also deeply devoted to his family, and they are missing him dearly.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Imre Szilagyi and Eva Marie Steingel. He is survived by his son, Shane Allen Szilagyi of Lake Elsinore, CA; sister, Emesé “Shay” Keegan (Brian) of Smyrna, GA; beloved nieces and nephew, Shannon Mary, Briana Rozalia, and Kyle Dakota; and many extended family members and friends.
A memorial mass honoring Butch’s life will be held Monday, April 22nd, 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Smyrna, GA.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 21st, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
Flowers are kindly accepted, however, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Butch’s memory to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation at https://www.npcf.us/donate/
