Arthur Herbert Powers Sr's Obituary
Arthur Herbert Powers, Sr, age 87, of Powder Springs passed away January 4, 2021. Arthur was a long-time member of Austell First Baptist Church. He and his wife were residents of Austell since 1959. Arthur was a business owner in the community for over 50 years, being the owner and operator of Powers Machine and Tool. Arthur was also a former president and member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers – Atlanta Chapter.
Arthur proudly served his country in the Navy and retired from the Naval Reserves after 31 years of service.
Preceding him in death is his wife, Peggy Bowen Powers; parents, William Powers and Dora Hooks; step-father, Harvey Joe Hooks; and son-in-law, Wayne Brown.
He is survived by his children, Deborah “Debbie” Brown of Austell, Art Powers, Jr. of Winston, and Sheila (Pat) Cornelius of Atlanta; grandchildren, Weston, Alaina, Ethan, and Darby; great-grandchildren, Scott, Kody, Kyleigh, Becca, Dylan, and Simon; partner and significant other, Dottie Rogers of Gadsden, AL; and brother, George T. (Cille) Powers of Munford, AL, James Hooks of Alabama, and Glen Hooks of Bessemer, AL.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 9th, 2:00 PM at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Johnny Foster officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
For anyone wishing to view the graveside service virtually, the service will be viewable on Mr. Powers Tribute page at the above-listed service time.
