Annie Jo Payne Townsend's Obituary
Annie Jo Payne Townsend, known to many as Mama Jo, age 97 of Mableton passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014. She was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church since 1946, where she served for 50 years, working in the church nursery as secretary and caring for the children. Jo was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking and loved the Atlanta Braves. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy H. Townsend, Sr. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Townsend Warren of Eufaula, Al; sons and daughters-in-law, Guy & Val Townsend, Jr. of Douglasville; Bill & Debbie Townsend of Austell; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jim & Nancy Payne of Clemson, SC. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
