Andrew "Bud" Bishop's Obituary
Andrew “Bud” Bishop passed away May 4th, 2025 at the age of 89.
Bud was born to Virginia (Bishop) Marlor and Mack McGruder Bishop in Buchanan, Georgia.
Bud was a United States Air-Force veteran and served in the Korean War. Bud married his wife, Shirley, August 12th, 1955, and they were married for 61 beautiful years. Bud was a dedicated and hard worker. He worked for Georgia Power and retired after 32 years of service. He made many close friends throughout his years at Georgia Power that he cherished.
Bud loved and raised his three daughters, Karen, Sherry, and Wendy. He loved each of his grand and great-grandchildren dearly. He was a prankster and enjoyed spending his time cutting up and spreading his humor. Bud was also an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending his time in Panama City and spent much of his retired life at his Florida home enjoying the beach with family and friends. He loved fishing off the pier or in the deep sea. Bud was always very passionate about yard work. He spent many hours in his yard maintaining an immaculate lawn and garden until he went to be with his Lord and Savior. He will be deeply missed by many.
Bud is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Jean Bishop; granddaughter, Amy Michelle Laughlin; and sisters, Agnes “Dutt” Heath, Ann Heard, Mary Donaldson, and Catherine Camp.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Laughlin (Don) of Powder Springs, Sherry Bishop of Dallas, and Wendy Jackson (Joseph) of Temple; sisters, Margaret Bennett, Brenda Priest, and Edna Chafin (Ronnie); grandchildren, Stephanie, Shawna, Michelle, Kelly, Sylvan, Caitlyn, Adam, and Hayden; great-grandchildren, Austin, Cassi, Hayven, Brayden, Ryder, Walker, Hudson, Lucas, Weston, Wilder, and another on the way; beloved four-legged babies, Dolly and Molly; along with many extended family and friends.
A funeral service honoring Bud’s life will be held Friday, May 9, 2:00 PM in Davis-Struempf Chapel with Bishop Thomas Blagg officiating. Interment will follow the service at Riverview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 2:00 PM before the service.
