Alton Glover's Obituary
Alton, J. Glover passed away peacefully June 5, 2013 due to complications of heart failure. He was born March 3, 1949 in Atlanta, Georgia to Dwight and Juanita Glover, he was the second son of four children. Raised in Brookhaven, he graduated from Cross Keys High School in 1968. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Barnett Glover on June 6, 1969. They have two children, Jeffrey Brian and Elizabeth Louise Glover who were his pride and joy. Brian married Stacey Phelps and they have two children, Hailey Elizabeth and Hayden Andrew Glover. Beth is now married to Robert Day and together they have four children, Joseph John and Helen Grace Vollero and Madison Claire and Jacob Andrew Day. Being daddy and gramps were his favorite pastimes. Alton was also an avid Falcon and UGA football fan. He also enjoyed his motorcycle, golf , swimming pools, the beach and he always treasured time with his close group of high school friends. He especially loved being at any activity the grandchildren participated in from little league, ballet and tumbling, recitals to Cub Scout events. Alton owned and operated ALG’s liquor store from the mid eighties until 1992. After selling the business he worked for a family friend’s liquor store and for the past 16 years he was employed by General Wholesale Beer Company as night warehouse manager and day warehouse manager until declining health forced him to retire 10 months ago. A special thank you to the Piedmont Advanced Heart failure Center Doctors Deen and Raval for giving us the precious gift of time. To all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the Center, ICU red, 3rd floor south, the ICU red receptionists, thank you so much for your dedicated care, your smiles and ultimately your tears. You are forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, gestures of sympathy can be made to the American Heart Association or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; JDRF.org. The family will receive friends and family at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home, Austell, GA on Saturday, June 8th from 4-8 pm. No formal service will be held.
