Aliene Gonzalez's Obituary
Susie “Aliene” Gonzalez, age 88 of Marietta went to be with her Lord December 26, 2023.
Aliene was born to Hughie Wheeler and Mae Belle Wheeler (neé Wallace) in Austell. The daughter of a sharecropper, she grew up on the land that now is Cobb Hospital. After graduating from Austell High School, she took a job in Atlanta working at the Ivan Allen Company. It was in the city that she met the love of her life, a young man fresh from the Korean War, Humberto Gonzalez. The two were married until Humberto’s death in 2005.
Aliene loved being outside. She found joy in working in her garden and observing the little birds. She was hard-pressed to decide on her flower, but peonies were pretty close. Aliene was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend who will be dearly missed, and who now resides in God’s Garden.
Aliene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Humberto Gonzalez.
She is survived by her children, Barry Gonzalez and his wife, Theresa, of Marietta, Juanita Gonzalez and her husband, Gerald Collins of Dallas, and Laurita Gardner and her husband, Michael of Austell; five grandchildren, Katey and husband, John, Felicia and husband, Terrance, Joshua, Jeremy and wife, Ashlee, James and wife, Carrie, and Justin; 19 great-grandchildren; and many beloved extended family and friends.
