Albert McMullen "Mac" Cox's Obituary
Albert McMullen "Mac" Cox, 55, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Mac was born in Coral Gables, Florida, to Dr. Charles C. Cox, Jr. and Nancy McMullen Cox. His family moved to Atlanta so his father could attend seminary. Mac attended Atlanta's Marist High School and graduated from Taylorsville High School in Taylorsville, MS. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1980 and served in the United States Army for five years. After his military service, he became a middle-school teacher and taught in both Fulton and Paulding County schools until his teaching career was cut short when he was injured in a car wreck.
Mac is survived by his wife of 33 years, Amy Kennedy Cox, of Mableton, and his sons, Albert McMullen Cox, Jr. and his fiancee, April Nix, of Atlanta and Charles Kennedy Cox of Cape Town, South Africa. He is also survived by a brother, Charles C. Cox, III, of Statesboro, GA, and his wife, Susan; two brothers-in-law, Charles Kennedy (Ellen) of Blairsville, GA, and Edward Kennedy (Yolanda) of Taylorsville, MS, and a sister-in-law, Karen (Ronnie) Johnson, of Jackson, MS. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The Memorial Service honoring Mac's life will be held on Saturday, October 5th, at the Davis-Struempf Chapel, at 4 o'clock, the Rev. Joe Brice presiding. Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday from 2 to 4 at the funeral home.
