Alan Homewood's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Homewood, age 70, of Acworth, Georgia, who passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026. He would have celebrated his 71st birthday on April 30, 2026.
Alan was a longtime resident of Acworth, where he built both his life and career. He was a skilled professional painter for many years and took great pride in his work, eventually passing his business down to his son, a legacy that will continue in his honor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Odell Homewood; his brother, Terry Homewood; and his beloved nephew, Keith, with whom he spent many of his teenage years riding motorcycles and making unforgettable memories.
Alan is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jerry Ellis; son, Alan Homewood Jr.; grandchildren, Paige and Karena; and cherished nieces and nephews: Art, Jeff, Stacy, Jennifer, Jamie, David, and Mitzi.
He also leaves behind several beloved great-nieces and nephews: Terry Alan, Samantha, Andrew, Dylan, Madison, Avery, and Kennedy; and longtime friends, Jim Brandt, Valerie Kight, and Denise White.
Alan had a deep love for life’s simple joys. He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially admired Dale Earnhardt. He also had a passion for rock music and created lasting memories attending concerts with his nieces and nephews. A true animal lover, Alan cared deeply for all creatures, especially his beloved dogs, Lilly, Bobo, Susie, and Maxi, along with many loyal companions throughout the years.
Known for his generous spirit, Alan always looked out for the underdog and had a compassionate heart for those in need. Even in the times when he had little, he gave what he could to others. His kindness and empathy left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Family meant everything to Alan. He especially treasured holidays spent at his sister Donna’s home, where he delighted in watching his nieces and nephews sing, dance, and play music. Those moments brought him immense joy, and nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family.
Alan will be remembered for his sharp wit, playful sarcasm, and unforgettable laugh, one that could be recognized from across the room. He had a way of making people smile and always had a kind word for anyone he encountered.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
Graveside services will be held at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
