The World has one less Angel, as our Precious and Wonderful Mother, Loving Grandmother, Wife, and Friend, Angelita Tamayo de Proaño, 91, of Smyrna, GA, went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2021. Angelita is preceded in death by her loving husband and soul mate of 65 years, Col. Rodolfo Proaño-Tafur; by her parents Carlos and Zoila Tamayo; by her siblings Carlos Anibal (surviving wife Gladys) Tamayo; Hildita Tamayo; Betty (deceased husband Walfer) de Sandoval; Angelita is survived by her seven children, Cecilia (husband William) Supern of Powder Springs, Rocío Proaño of Smyrna; María de Lourdes (husband Patricio) Pazmiño of Pembroke Pines, FL; Monica (deceased husband Nelson Villavicencio) Proaño of Smyrna; Patricia (husband Darrell) Cruse of Powder Springs; Rodolfo (wife Vicki) Proaño, Jr. of Atlanta; and Mireya (husband Simon Espinosa) Proaño of Quito, Ecuador; nine grandchildren, Christine (husband John) Weigand of Woodstock, Andrea (husband Nathan) Thompson of Ohio, Angie and Giovanni Villavicencio; Jonathan and Danielle Cruse, and Mireya, Nicole, and Isabel Espinosa; six great-grandchildren; Abby, Caleb, Jubilee, and Selah Thompson; Joshua and Matthew Weigand; and surviving siblings, sister Carmela (husband Wilson) de Mariño of Quito, Ecuador; brother Oswaldo (wife Violeta) Tamayo of Quito, Ecuador; María Elena (deceased husband Carlos) de Perez of Quito, Ecuador and brother Alonso (wife Raquel) Tamayo of Quito, Ecuador, a host of nieces and nephews, and beloved extended family. The family will hold private visitation. Catholic Mass will be officiated in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church on Thursday, May 27th at 9:30am. with Rev. Brian Sheridan, M.S. and Rev. Clemente Mario, M.S. officiating. Interment will follow the service at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
