On April 4, 2013, we lost our hero, Wendell H. Harrelson. He was born at home on January 8, 1923, one of nine children, and is still survived by his sisters, Myrtle Cochran and Lucille Jowers, and brothers, Neal Harrelson and Clyd Read Obituary
May the God of peace call everyone to peace at this time. Because Wendell would have wanted that way. He was a faithful husband and great father. To those he knew he was a terrific person. I truly am sorry for your lost, may this scripture cause peace to dwell on the painful spot.
"the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God's Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life." (John 5:28, 29)
These words comfort me everyone time I read them or think of my friend coming back to live forever.
My Uncle Wendell was a true gentle soul. A man of few words with a strong loving character. In certain ways he reminds me of his Dad, my Grandad. Wendell's actions spoke volumes! You always knew you were loved and accepted. We were so blessed to have such great men in our family, leading by examples. Wendell and Daddy (Cecil) were so close. It was at Daddy's funeral when Wendell's character again spoke volumes. My heart was so touched when he quietly gave Daddy a farewell gift. I have only good memories of Wendell and Louise. What a fine example of a loving husband. Once when he was deciding on a new car to buy, he would test drive it back to get Louise's approval. He said when he saw her smile at the red one he new he got it right! They both liked to tell this story. Mike, Tony, Debora and family I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that Uncle Wendell's footsteps spoke volumes to the kind of man he was! What great testimonies you have of a great Dad.

Thank You Thank You ... My heart is over-whelmed with Pride & Joy of the love & memories you gave to me ...Thank You for taking care of your "lil bro" Cecil, my Dad, you two were un-separable, such a "bond" yall shared for one another ...through childhood,teens , then enlisting in the Air Force at the same time, it had to be together ...even living next door or across the way , togetherness ..which made our families "grow up" side-by-side, vacations or just wkn trips , togetherness ... I even got to play golf with you and Daddy..wow..what patience you had , and to watch the both of you "show me what to do with the club"...lol ...sweet memories ... yes, I could go on and on too, but I'll stop for now ...but "my thoughts of you will always linger" ... I love you dearly ... your favorite neice ...lol... on the "H" side ... lol

Thank you for all the kind words, Dad was a great man, who would help anyone who ask. He will be remembered for his kindness, patience, love, and incredible dry sense of humor. If there is one thing I can say about my Dad is I loved him very much, but most of all you should know that he loved you very much. Please remember him in your thoughts and prayers as I will, he will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Dear Uncle Wendell – You touched my life, I will always remember you at Carrabelle Fla feeding the squirrels those peanuts. I enjoyed sitting outside in the lawn chairs with you and Louise, Dot and Cecil and the rest of the gang. You were always kind; I remember your strong voice and your laugh.

Uncle Wendell.....I could fill this whole page with memories....from camping when I was a kid to playing golf with him until he was in his 80's. One of the greatest men I have ever known. Always like a father to me. Intelligent, kind, and loving,he always had a helping hand to those who needed him. I will miss his wit and sense of humor. My prayers are that God wraps him in his loving arms and that he gets to spend the rest of eternity with Louise, Momma,and all the rest of his family and freinds. I hope you play 18 in the morning "Unk" and then go fishing every afternoon. And always make Cecil keep up with your score. I love you Uncle Wendell and will miss you terribly. I got 2 phrases for you...let's play 18 and Go Braves!!!! Rest in Peace great man and warrior!!!!!
Wendell was one of the nicest, kindest man you could ever have the honor to know. He was like a father to my husband, so to me he was my wonderful father-in-law. I am so thankful I got to know him and love him. He truly would give you the shirt off his back if you ask, or if he thought you need it.
My PawPaw was truly one of the greatest men I have ever met. He was a World War II veteran, great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. My fondest memories of him have to be the time I spent with him fishing and golfing. I am blessed to have so many great memories of this great man that will be with me and I can share with others for the rest of my life.
