Edward S, "Ed' Scott's Obituary
Mr. Edward Smith Scott was born September 3, 1917 in Austell, Georgia at the "Big House." He was the second of six children. "Ed," as he was called, graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens and from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, majoring in animal husbandry and agriculture. While in Colorado, he learned how to be a "real" cowboy working on a cattle ranch and brought the love of horses and the great outdoors back home with him. He loved history, the American Indian and researching his family heritage. He was a historian on the Civil War and told many stories about his relatives' involovement in it. He also loved politics and corresponded many years with congressional leaders on a variety of topics, winning senatorial awards for his writitngs. Mrs. Scott is survived by his three children, Gloria Scott and John Scott both of Austell and Randy Scott of Oklahoma City, OK; Sister, Kathryn Beckum of Austell, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
