Lloyd Douglas Cole
January 23, 2022
Lloyd Douglas Cole, age 78, of Austell passed away peacefully January 23, 2022. Lloyd was born in Dallas, Georgia to Lewis and Bessie Cole. He was a graduate of South Cobb High School. He spent his career working in the construction industry building many recognizable Atlanta landmarks throughout the years. He would eventually become the owner-operator of Cole’s Construction Company. He was a proud member of Spirit Life Church of God for over 40 years, often doting that he built the church “from the ground up.” There were fewer things that brought him more joy than restoring and riding in his classic muscle cars (most notably his favorites, a 1964 Chevrolet Impala and 1973 Chevrolet Nova), crafting furniture and other items in his woodshop, adventuring with friends and family, as well as his Atlanta Braves. In addition to his parents, Lloyd was welcomed into Heaven by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Sara Ellen Cole; son, Sam Sims; and brothers, Danny Cole and Edward Cole. He is survived by daughter Cynthia Cole (husband, Keith Adcock) of Dallas, son, Aubrey Sims (wife, Annette) of Royston, and daughter-in-law Becky Sims of Elberton; siblings, Donald, Linda, and Louise; grandchildren, Chanelle, April, Megan, Heather, Zackery, Caleb, and Grace; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28th, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Pastor John Citizen officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM before the service. Flowers are gratefully accepted, however, in lieu of flowers, memorials in Lloyd’s name may be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/ For anyone wishing to view the service virtually, a live stream link will be available on Mr. Cole's Tribute Page at the above-listed service time at www.davisstruempf.com
