Jose ‘Pepe’ De La Cruz nacio en Guanajay, Pinar del Rio, Cuba el 14 de Abril de 1942. De muy temprana edad su familia se fue a vivir para la ciudad de Artemisa, donde crecio y vivio antes de salir de Cuba. En Guanajay conoce a Rosario Hernandez y se casan el 4 de Mayo de 1970, formando su hogar del cual nacieron sus hijos Ruth y Jonathan. En 1979 emigra a los Estados Unidos para reunirse con su esposa y suegros, ya que ellos habian emigrado unos años antes. De edad joven Pepe conocio del Senor en la Iglesia de Artemisa, Cuba, donde fue bautizado por el Rev. Jorge Comesañas. Debido a su fe tuvo que sobrellevar dos años y medio de trabajo duro en el campo de UMAP. Al emigrar a los E.E. U.U., llega a ser miembro de la Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana de Metro Atlanta, donde sirvio fielmente como diacono, tesorero, y maestro mas de 40 años. Fallecio el 10 de Diciembre del 2020. Le sobreviven su esposa Rosario; su hermana Isabel; su hija Ruth y yerno Misael; su hijo Jonathan y nuera Jessica; sus nietos Andrew, Gabriel, Lucas, y Coralee; y sus sobrinos Elizabeth y Roberto. “He peleado la buena batalla, he acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe”—2 Timoteo 4:7 Jose ‘Pepe’ De La Cruz was born in Guanajay, Pinar del Rio, Cuba on April 14, 1942. At an early age his family moved to the city of Artemisa, where he grew up and lived before leaving Cuba. In Guanajay he met Rosario Hernandez and they married on May 4, 1970, forming their home from which their children Ruth and Jonathan were born. In 1979 he emigrated to the United States to join his wife and in-laws, who arrived a few years earlier. As a youth, Pepe came to know the Lord at the local church in his hometown of Artemisa, Cuba, where he was baptized by Rev. Jorge Comesañas. Because of his faith, he had to endure two and a half years of hard labor in the UMAP field camp. After arriving to the U.S., he became a member of First Spanish Baptist Church of Metro Atlanta, where he served faithfully as a deacon, treasurer, and teacher for over 40 years. He passed away on December 10, 2020. He is survived by his wife Rosario; his sister Isabel; his daughter Ruth and son-in-law Misael; his son Jonathan and daughter-in-law Jessica; his grandchildren Andrew, Gabriel, Lucas, and Coralee; and his nephews Elizabeth and Roberto. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”—2 Timothy 4:7
