James Arthur Sherer

February 19, 2022

The family of James “Jimmy” Sherer announces his peaceful passing on February 19, 2022 at the age of 65. Jimmy passed in his home surrounded by loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents Orville Lewis and Lula Mae Sherer and his brother Tommy Lee Sherer. Jimmy, a man of devoted Christian faith and strong convictions, will be lovingly remembered by his wife Therese Marie Sherer; his daughter Dana (Madlyn) Bocinsky and their children, Aiden, Olivia and Anna; his brothers Ronnie (Shelia), Delbert (Michelle), Larry Ray; and his nephew Shane, with whom he was particularly close. Jimmy will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends. Jimmy was born August 31, 1956 in Birmingham, Alabama, and moved to Atlanta at the age of one. He was blessed to be born into a large family of five brothers who enjoyed boy scouts, camping, fishing, music, and sports. The brothers have remained inseparable throughout their lives. Jimmy lived in Cobb County, Georgia for close to 50 years, where he married his wife of 41 years, Terry, and together raised their daughter, Dana. Jimmy is known for his easy-go-lucky personality, generosity, and quiet and calm demeanor. Jimmy adored his grandchildren and took joy in spoiling them with love and treats. Jimmy was a painter by trade and worked on many iconic buildings in the Atlanta area, including Turner Field and The Georgia Dome. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting coins, reading, and watching the Falcons every Sunday. Family and friends of Jimmy are invited to gather for a visitation at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home in Austell, Georgia on Sunday, February 27 at 2:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00. The Sherer family would like to thank all friends and family for prayers, thoughts, and support during this time. For anyone wishing to view the service virtually, a live stream link will be available on Jimmy's Tribute Page at www.davisstruempf.com at the above listed service time.
