Hal Akins, 72, of Mableton, Georgia, passed away, Friday, January 8th, 2021 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 16th at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home at 1975 East-West Connector, Austell, GA. Read Obituary
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of my friend, Hal Akins. He was one of my major football equipment providers over the past 20 years, but Hal was much, much more than a business partner. He was a true friend and I loved our many conversations about high school football, golf and many other common interest. Hal left a lasting impression on everyone he met and there is a huge empty place in my heart with his passing. From his golf shoes, to his smile and his many opinions on every topic imaginable, he was a delight to know. Who wears golf shoes to work??? Hal was an amazing person and football coaches all across Georgia will miss him greatly. We are all better for having known him. If there are golf shoes in heaven, Hal has them on. Blessings to his family and a very big than you for sharing this wonderful man with all of us.

I knew Hal from the age of 10. We were football teammates for 3 years at SCHS. Lifelong, he was a Sportsman and epitomized what it meant to be an athlete/coach/official and supporter of the Eagle Community. He soars now with all those Eagles who've gone before; enjoined in an Alumni of Saints.

While you may not know Larry and me, we knew Hal. He was a wonderful gentle man who was so friendly. We initially met Hal through our son Chris Daniluk at a golf tourney at the Deluxe Athletics outing at Sugar Hill. We instantly fell in love with him. Of course he and his team always won but he was so gracious as not to accept the 1st place price. Larry and I have played with him many times. Our son had a deep admiration for your Dad. Larry and I were planning to move to Georgia and he called us in PA and wanted to help us move. Amy just know that one day when you must come his way alone, he will greet you with a smile and say "Welcome Home."

We were so saddened to learn of Archie's passing. I hired Archie when I was a Regional for Etonic in the late 80's to cover the SE. I remember when making the decision to hire him that this guy could sell ice to eskimoes. What a great personality!!! He loved wearing his saddle golf shoes before they become the in thing to wear. Soooo many great memories. So kind to everyone. We remained friends even after he left Etonic and then when we moved to Kennesaw we became even better friends. Loved his Super Bowl parties and cooking ribs the day before!! I could go on and on for a long time but my real thoughts are with you and Kate and Grant. You knew him as Dad and Grandpa, and sometimes you don't get to see what a positive impact he had on so many people. Please take comfort in knowing how many people are thankful for knowing Archie and how many people are praying for you now. May he rest in Peace.
