Douglas Leon Williams departed this earthly life suddenly, on Wednesday November 2, 2016, when his giant and loving heart failed him just 24 days short of his 66th birthday. Doug was born on November 26, 1950, the son of David L. Read Obituary
We still can hardly believe he has gone from our sight. So many fond memories of our reenacting days together with Julie and Doug that is hard to count them. We will treasure the times we shared with Doug: Camping in the blazing hot and the cold and the rain, sleeping in the fort quarters at Fort Pulaski and remembering our past.
Doug, I am sorry that Gene and I didn't get to have that dinner with you and Julie we talked about not long ago. Till we meet again, LaVanda and Gene Gibbs (Shellnutt)
You were one special soul put on this earth and we are so blessed to have known you. Spread those beautiful wings and soar high sweet spirit. May God be with your wife Julie at this time. The love you had for each other shinned so brightly. See you on the other side.
Doug was such a talented in so many ways. He was a great friend to us and many and we loved his bigger than life spirit and happiness that he brought to us and others. We have known him and Julie as wonderful friends for many years. We also had a few opportunities to play music together with Doug over the years and had always had the plan to get together and play together again in the near future. He will be greatly missed by all who were family or blessed enough to know him as a friend.
