I only worked at Waffle House at mirror lake for a few years but that was more than enough time to meet Herb. I remember two very definite things about Herb: he made the best peach cobbler in the south east, and he was a true man of God. Every day I spent with Herb he gave me good Christian council and we made each other laugh. A friend of mine sent a video message to me last night that she had forgotten, containing his last words to me. I was so overjoyed because not only was it a chance to see my friend again but the advice he gave me fit him to a tee. Herb knew my heart and while he wanted to make sure I wasn’t harassing my baby brothers ex, he knew that to this day I would be a good person because of the time we shared together. Or he wouldn’t give me anymore cobbler. To his family I give my condolences however much they might ease their pain but I can say with a 100% certainty that if anyone makes it to heaven it’s Herb.
