My dearest Grandma was a wonderful woman. She was an inspiration to me and all the military members of Operation Sky Guard which a joint airport security operation between the Georgia Army National Guard and the Air Force Reserve at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. She had a heart larger than life and a very caring soul. She also was my pen pal during my tour of duty in Iraq. I always looked forward to reading her letters. I thank God for giving me the time that He allowed Her in my life. I love her and will miss her very much.

I'm so sad because you are no longer with us, but feeling blessed at the same time because you lived a full life, almost 96 years. You were a hard worker, loving and caring woman to whom the most important thing was caring for her family and all the people around her. I'll always remember all the simple details you had for us: your cooking (that's simply the best), your cards (for birthdays, mothers day, Christmas, etc.), newspapers articles that you thought were important to us, your calls, etc...
I know you were happy to see all the family coming together to cherish your life, and we will try to keep it that way to honor you... to honor your life... to honor your memory. As we, the family of Ana Cabanas Maldonado goes through a variety of feelings and one of the greatest sorrows in our life, the loss of someone (my mother) we love, the tears that come out from our eyes but are originated in the fountain of our hearts, set your mind on things above. Jesus said in Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted”. And Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me”.

To all the family, I express my heartfelt sorrow for your loss of a family treasure. I knew her as Grandma, and she was everything you could ever want in a Grandma: Her cooking was the best, her delightful conversations were wise. And, her love was comforting and inspiring.

We laughed together, and we shared stories about food and gardening. Grandma also shared a special plant with me, the night-blooming cereus. It bloomed for me last summer, for the first time. I am Always with you
When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do, you mustn't tie yourself to me with too many tears, but be thankful we had so many good years. I gave you my love, and you can only guess how much you've given me in happiness. I thank you for the love that you have shown, but now it is time I traveled on alone. So grieve for me a while, if you must. Then let you grief be comforted by trust that is only for a while that we must part, so treasure the memories within your heart. I won't be far away for life goes on. And if you need me, call and I will come.
