Ms. Rhoden graduated from O’Keefe High School in 1972 and attending Lee College from 1972-1974. She worked for Richway Corporation for many years before attending Kennesaw College graduating Cum Laude with a B.S. in Education. At the time of her passing, she was a retired school teacher and a travel agent for Abracadabra Travel.
Steeped in a strong Church of God heritage, Sylvia was a founding member of a Christian Singing group known as The Children of Light organized in 1972 while attending Lee. Her anointed voice was known across the country having sung in countless Campmeetings as well as the Church of God General Assembly.
She was a lover of people and never met a stranger. Sylvia was a fantastic cook and often volunteered at her church coordinating dinners and soup kitchens. She was a member of Marietta Church of God. However; for the past 3 years, she has lead worship for Without Walls of Cartersville where her brother was the pastor.
