Mr. Shaw was my guitar teacher at the Hartford Conservatory in the 1970's. I have many memories of him and one thing that stands out is how beautifully he played. I took a different path as a musician (rock and metal) but I have never forgotten his influence - he was the only teacher I ever had. Forty-something years later, I still play as if its the only thing that matters.
I still think of him every time I pick up a guitar and I remember his favorite guitar - a Guild Jazz guitar. He showed it to me when he had just acquired it. It was so nice I was afraid to stand next to it.
He was a brilliant musician and a gentleman. I'm certain his other students have equally fond memories. L. Gomez
He was my teacher mentor in 1977 how he had the patience I don't know I did not have the discipline to practice. But everything he taught me is still in me. Thank you bob It's true
This is a picture of Bob playing my wedding on 10/13/01 at Smyrna Christian Church. We asked him to play his beautiful chord melodies while our large party was seated. Such a wonderful memory. He also sat in with the jazz band during the reception. In the mid-90's I traveled an hour (Gwinnett to Maple Street Guitars) to take a lesson from Bob my junior and senior year of high school. I just recently heard he had passed while I was at a recording session last week. His name came up during the session.
Loved seeing pictures and reading stories. Such a great man.
We miss you Bob!
We knew Bob for close to six years. He was a neighbor who became a friend! Bob was a man of music who loved to share his passion with everyone who came in contact with him.
My husband shared time with Bob talking about Formula 1 car racing around the world and watching races when they could. Bob and my husband shared books, and had discussions about them. Bob remained mentally sharp and interested in everything around him.
We will miss him!

We have known Bob for many years - really since he first came to Atlanta. We were always impressed by his great musicianship and by his kindness and good cheer. During the years that he taught lessons at our guitar shop we always looked forward to his arrival and the stories he had to tell us. His music gave our store a great atmosphere and brought in many admiring students and customers. His presence always gave a lift to our spirits. It was clear that Bob loved his family above all else, and was always eager to tell us about his sons and their achievements and much about his grandchildren. He was a loving, caring person, and this love and joy in living was vividly evident in his music.
Although we have not seen much of Bob in recent years due to his illness, we will sorely miss him.

Bob was a great friend and musician...His playing was so lyrical and expressive. Rather late in my life I made a switch form classical guitar to jazz guitar and Bob willingly took on the role of doing some mentoring for me. He was funny. I will miss him.

If I had the opportunity to handpick a father-in-law and a grandfather for my children, I could not have chosen anyone better than Bob. He was a caring, generous man of principle with an exuberant personality. Bob’s passion for music, contributions to the music industry and commitment to using his talent to help others had an indelible effect on those that knew him. His influence helped shape the man my husband is and the ladies my girls will become. I remain in his debt. I will love and miss him always.
He was a wonderful musician and person. I fondly remember playing Christmas gigs with him at the homeless shelter for women and children.
